Paris isn’t just the City of Lights—it’s a magical destination for families too! In this itinerary, we share our experience exploring Paris with our 19‑month‑old son, from iconic landmarks to a day of enchantment at Disneyland Paris. Whether you’re a first‑time visitor or a returning traveler, our guide is packed with tips, transportation insights, and family-friendly recommendations to help you plan an unforgettable trip.

Day 1: Arrival, Eiffel Tower, and a Delicious Parisian Dinner

After arriving at Charles de Gaulle Airport, head to your hotel or Airbnb. You have a couple of great options: the Parisian underground service is efficient, or you can grab a taxi—expect to pay about €56 to €65, depending on whether you’re staying on the southern or northern side of the River Seine.

Once you’ve checked in, it’s time to kick off your Paris adventure with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower. Remember: you’ll need to book your time slot in advance to avoid long waits, so plan ahead. Depending on your arrival time, consider stopping at one of the many charming bistros nearby. Indulge in local favorites like a classic French quiche, a savory croque monsieur, or even a light salad paired with a fresh baguette and cheese.

Finish your day with dinner, soaking in the Parisian atmosphere as you savor your first taste of France.

Day 2: The Louvre, Place de la Concorde, and the Champs‑Élysées

Start your morning with breakfast at your hotel or a local bakery if you’re staying in an Airbnb. Early risers are rewarded—head to the Louvre Museum right away to avoid the biggest crowds. Timed entry is required, and luckily, bringing a buggy means you might bypass long queues. Don’t miss world-famous masterpieces like the Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, but also take the time to explore lesser‑known sections. With numerous cafés inside the museum, it’s easy to give your little one a break during your 3‑ to 4‑hour visit.

After the Louvre, stroll through its gardens toward Place de la Concorde, then continue your walk onto the Champs‑Élysées. This famed shopping street—especially delightful on a Sunday when the street is closed to cars—is the perfect place for a leisurely afternoon of window‑shopping and people‑watching.

Day 3: Notre Dame, Montmartre, and Sacré‑Cœur

On day three, begin with a morning visit to Notre Dame. Although the cathedral is currently undergoing restoration, the surrounding area and its history are still captivating. Enjoy lunch at one of the many quaint cafés near the cathedral before taking the metro to Montmartre.

In Montmartre, wander the cobbled streets and discover the artistic heart of Paris. A must‑visit here is Sacré‑Cœur—its white domes offer panoramic views of the city. For a delightful family meal, we highly recommend dining at our favourite bistro, La Vache et le Cuisinier. With a relaxed atmosphere and tasty French dishes, it’s the perfect spot to recharge.

Day 4: A Magical Day at Disneyland Paris

No family trip to Paris would be complete without a visit to Disneyland Paris—an absolute must for families with young children. Located about 32 km east of the city, Disneyland is easily accessible by public transport. We opted for the RER A line, where a single journey costs around €2.50 and a return ticket about €5. In contrast, a Disney bus can set you back around €70, while taxis may cost over €100.

Once there, immerse yourself in the magic of Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios. With rides, parades, and meet‑and‑greets with beloved characters, there’s something for every age. Use FastPass options where available, and take plenty of breaks to keep your little one comfortable. Whether you’re riding on gentle attractions or enjoying the spectacular parades, Disneyland Paris promises a day of wonder and excitement for the whole family.

Day 5: A Royal Finale at Versailles

On your final day, step back in time with a trip to Versailles. A short train ride from Paris brings you to the opulent Palace of Versailles, where you can marvel at the extravagant interiors and sprawling gardens. While the palace can be overwhelming for little ones, the gardens provide plenty of space for them to run and play.

Stroll through the perfectly manicured lawns, admire the majestic fountains, and, if weather permits, enjoy a relaxed picnic on the grounds. For a quieter experience, visit the Trianon Palaces and Marie Antoinette’s Hamlet—offering a more intimate glimpse into royal life. Booking tickets in advance is recommended to avoid the crowds and maximize your time exploring this historic site.

Conclusion

From the towering heights of the Eiffel Tower to the enchanting magic of Disneyland Paris, our 5‑day itinerary proves that Paris has something for every member of the family—even the littlest ones. This trip was a blend of history, art, culture, and pure fun, making it an ideal destination for families seeking both adventure and relaxation. We wholeheartedly recommend Paris in any season, and especially in the crisp charm of late autumn, for a memorable family getaway.
